OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Business Management, originally known as the Department of Business Studies, started as a full-fledged Department in the 2009/2010 Academic Session with 58 students for the 5 Programmes of the Department, namely, Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Public Administration.

Vision

To be a leader in the research, teaching and development of finance and accounting thoughts and organizational resource management principles as fundamental input in the attainment of the global Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Mission

To achieve the vision, our mission is to produce time tested and professionally competent world class accountants with integrity who will be at the forefront of driving the required financial management strategy towards the attainment of the global Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Philosophy

The Department is guided by the philosophy of producing high level graduates in Accounting who will contribute, through research and  publications to the growth of Accounting knowledge and the improvement of the quality of professional practice as required for the attainment of Nigeria’s Vision 20: 2020 and the global Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Objectives

The Department of Accounting aims to produce high level graduates in Accounting, Taxation, Entrepreneurship and Financial Management who will contribute to the growth of Accounting knowledge and the improvement of the quality of professional practice in Nigeria and on the international scene. Other specific objectives are to:

  1. expand the scope of application of the Accounting, Taxation, Entrepreneurship and Financial Management disciplines in order to promote and enhance national economic development. In this regard, the Department seeks to stimulate interest, and provide needed leadership in research and experimentation in all branches of Accountancy, Taxation, Entrepreneurship and Financial Management;
  2. sensitize the professional in Accounting and Taxation to see himself/herself as a member of the organizational team whose collaborative effort is required in order to achieve organizational objectives. This requires that the Accountant or Taxation expert should have reasonable grounding in all aspects of Economics, Computer and Management in addition to his/her specialization;
  3. inculcate requisite attitudes, ethics and skills of professionalism in accounting. To this end, student and staff interaction with the everyday practitioner is encouraged and facilitated through the Industrial Training Programme of the Department;
  4. inculcate moral and spiritual values in the graduates of the Department. Such values are expected to permeate their thinking, and moderate their behaviour always, whether in the classroom, industry or private practice;
  5. facilitate the creation of the entrepreneurial spirit among young men and women who can help to exploit the available resources and  opportunities in the country and elsewhere;
  6. produce accounting and taxation teachers and researchers in order to keep pace with the ever-rising standards for accounting and taxation education in the world;
  7. facilitate the education and training of accountants, taxation practitioners and financial managers and SME owners; and
  8. help produce teaching materials and literature more appropriate to the Nigerian environment through research and cross fertilization of ideas in the classroom.

Four (4) Years (8 Semesters)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Candidates should possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or General Certificate of Education (GCE, OL) or National Education Council Certificate (NECO) or their approved equivalents, with at least five credit passes, obtained at not more than two sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics; Mathematics or Further Mathematics; any one of Commerce, Accounting, Marketing; and any other Social Science subject.
  2. 200 Level Candidates must possess Diploma, an Innovative National Diploma (NID) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) relevant to the proposed program of study with a minimum of Lower Credit from recognised institutions.
  3. 300 Level Candidates must possess a Higher/Advanced Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) relevant to the proposed program of study with a minimum of Lower Credit from recognised institutions.
  4. Concessionary Admission: Mature candidates awaiting SSCE/O’Level result can apply and try to complete and submit his/her SSCE/O’Level result before graduation.

In addition, candidates residing in Lagos State must pass the TEBA Scholastic Aptitude Screening (TESAS) at our Lagos Study Center. TESAS represents the post-JAMB screening test for the Academy. Candidates must also demonstrate an obvious social, physical, spiritual and academic orientation towards life as Testament Business Academy and Affiliated Institutions are Character driven Institutions.

  2. Pay as follows for Testament Business Academy (TEBA) application forms:
    • Undergraduate Programmes: ₦10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira Only)
  3. Obtain the payment Teller, payment email or any form of payment confirmation scan and send to: admission@teba.com.ng
  4. A Pin Code will be send to you by the Admission Officer of TEBA.
  5. Visit https://portal.teba.com.ng/apply
  6. Use your Application pin code to access your TEBA online application form
  7. Complete the application by providing the required information.
  8. After completion, the candidate can re-open the form as often as he/she likes, before submitting.
  9. Having completed all the above steps, you may submit your form by clicking the submit button at the bottom of the displayed screen.
  10. TEBA will send you an email or/and text message for student interview where documents will be screened for successful application.
  11. A provisional admission letter will be sent to your email to be printed out in coloured as this will serve as the only document needed for you to be mobilized for your matriculation ceremony at the main campus.
